Admissions

  Admission Policy

The Armenian Sisters Academy admits students of any race, national and ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at our school.  Similar policies apply to the school staff.

The Academy does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national, or ethnic origin in the administration of its education policies, its admission policies or in any school administered program.  The Armenian Sisters Academy gives preference in admission to children of Armenian descent.

Before a child is accepted for registration an interview with the parents and child is required and the following information must be presented:

  • A state certificate of birth as evidence of age.
  • A record of compliance with local and state of Pennsylvania health regulations.
  Attendance Go to top

School hours are from 8:20 a.m. to 3:05 p.m.

Parents are required to call the school between 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. if the child will not be in school.  This is to be done on each day of the absence unless indicated that the child will be out for an extended period of time.  If a child is absent 3 days or more, a physician’s note of good health is required when the child returns to school.

Regular daily attendance is essential for the academic development of the student.  Excessive absences cause the preschool child a readjustment process and the elementary child to fall behind in his/her class work.

Family vacations should be planned during the school’s Christmas, Easter and summer vacations.  A vacation taken during school time is disruptive to the child’s education.

FINANCIAL AID POLICY AND PROCEDURE

Financial Aid Timeline
Once students have been accepted for admission, families may apply for need-based financial aid. The Financial Aid review process begins in April.
To be considered for financial aid, families must submit the following:

  1. Parents Financial Statement (PFS) Form - You may obtain the form on-line at http://www.nais.org/financialaid/SSS or from the office at the Armenian Sisters Academy. The PFS must be submitted online to the office of School and Student Services (SSS) in Princeton, NJ. by April 21. To contact SSS by telephone, call 866-387-2601.
             a. All parents/legal guardians must file a PFS form (jointly if married and separately if divorced or separated).
             b. Fee Waiver – There is a small fee to submit a PFS application. To determine if you qualify for a waiver of the PFS application fee, please call the school office at 610-687-4100.
  2. Personal Tax Returns
             a. Federal Tax Return - a signed copy of the most recent return, including all schedules, copies of W2 forms and business returns, must be submitted to the school office by April 21.

Parents’/Legal Guardians’ Consent
Because financial aid is based on a family's ability to meet the cost of an education at the Armenian Sisters Academy, we require financial information from all parents/legal guardians. The school cannot be bound by the assertion of one parent/legal guardian that he or she is not responsible for educational expenses if there are other parents/legal guardians as well. Thus, all parents/legal guardians must provide the information that is required on the Parents’ Financial Statement as well as complete Federal Income Tax forms each year. All information is required for accurate and fair assessment of need. Incomplete information may result in a diminished award or no award at all.

Our Commitment
We make every effort to accommodate parents/legal guardians who apply for financial aid. To help us expedite the process, it is essential that you submit your application materials in a timely manner because aid is awarded on a first come–first served basis, and requests may exceed availability. Please also remember that need-based grants are intended to aid families without the resources to afford an Armenian Sisters Academy education by themselves. We expect families to pursue all possible sources of funding for their child, whether they be scholarships, local, state or national funding, help from relatives, etc. If the student enrolls at the Armenian Sisters Academy, the family must provide information on all (including anticipated) financial assistance from all other sources, and the Armenian Sisters Academy reserves the right to adjust or withdraw financial aid based on information not reported during the application process.

"Bridging the Gap" from ADVIS
We recognize that some families may not qualify for aid but are still interested in ways to help pay the cost of an independent school education. The Association of Delaware Valley Independent Schools (ADVIS) has prepared the following document describing financial strategies for paying tuition to its member schools. Please click ADVIS to read that document.
Outside Sources of Funding - Opportunities for additional financial support

Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS)
Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS) was established in 1980 by a group of visionary business leaders who recognized the critical need to support Catholic schools in our region. BLOCS works to gain support for the Archdiocesan Elementary, Secondary and Special Education Schools, as well as many of the Private Catholic Schools, serving approximately 93,000 children in our region who desire a value-based, quality education which teaches the life skills necessary to thrive in both their professional and personal lives. Of those approximately 93,000 students, many are non-Catholics and/or minorities who are seeking a better education. BLOCS provides much needed tuition assistance to our school families, regardless of race, religion or nationality. For more information, please visit the BLOCS.

The Children's Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia (CSFP)
Parents/legal guardians apply online or by written application directly to the CSFP by March 1. Awards are made by lottery and the maximum award for private school students is currently $1,900 per year, renewable for four years through 8th grade. Both the school and family must sign documents each year by stated deadlines to ensure that funds are received. For more information, please visit the CSFP.

National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS)
National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) provides additional information about financing private school education.  For more information, please visit the NAIS.
